Clarice Eva (Wright) Missall- "Granny Goose of Alaska"- and Jesus said, "Welcome thy Good and Faithful Servant"

Clarice E. Missall, 86, went to be with her Savior on Wednesday morning, Nov. 21, 2012, at St Vincent Hospital in Green Bay.

Clarice was born June 17, 1926, in Niagara, Wis., a daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Lake) Wright.

The family moved to Suring, where Clarice attended Suring grade School and later the Suring High School. She then met the love of her life, Clifford W. "Butch" Missall and the couple was united in marriage on July 20, 1946, at the Rectory of St Michael Catholic Church in Suring. Following their marriage, Clarice farmed and was a homemaker and mother.

She was a long time member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Breed, where she was active as a Sunday school teacher, Ladies Aid member, Lutheran Women's Missionary League and quilted. She along with her husband loved to travel the country, where they spent many days together camping, hunting and fishing in the wild. Clarice also loved playing cards with the grandchildren, cooking and baking for them. She also took them deer hunting and fishing.

Her husband, Butch preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2007.

Starting in the year 1999 and ending in 2008, Clarice spent summers as a missionary in Alaska, the "Last Frontier". She would spend from one month to six months teaching vacation bible school to the native Alaskan children with the Lutheran Association of Missionaries and Pilots and also with the Alaska Missions for Christ. Over the years she had visited 50 native villages in Alaska. She gave many presentations to Churches and organizations when she returned back to the "Lower 48". She was loved by all.

Left to cherish her memory are her three children, Jean and Melvin Quandt and Lois Gallenberger, both of Breed; and Dennis and Peggy Missall, Mountain; five grandchildren, Jamie Kumhala, Nick Gallenberger, Tim Gallenberger, Dion and Kirsten Missall and Kristi and Jake Godin. She also has seven great-grandchildren, Jay and Brody Kumhala, Hannah, Riley, Wesley and Miley Godin and Brynja Missall; two brothers, Eugene Wright and Thomas Wright; three sisters, Dalores Van Caster, Lylas Jeffalone and Pat Stayback. She is further survived by one brother in-law, Elton Giese; and two sisters-in-law, Bernice Missall and Nina Weickert; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Clarice was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Butch; two sisters, Alice and Janet; a brother, Robert Wright; and a grandson, Ritchie Kumhala.

Funeral services for Clarice Missall will be held on Saturday, Nov. 24, at 11 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Breed. Pastor Paul Scheunemann will officiate. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Breed. Relatives and friends may call at Emmanuel Lutheran church on Friday, Nov. 23, from 4 to 8 p.m. and again Saturday morning after 9 a.m. until the hour of service.

Schroeder-Mickelson Funeral Service of Shawano, is assisting the family with the service arrangements.

The family thanks all staff at Woodland Village in Suring, as well as the doctors, nurses and aides at St Vincent Hospital in Green Bay, for the compassion and care the Clarice received.
