Kuehl, Rodney Lee

Rodney Lee. Kuehl, age 65 of Kewaunee died unexpectedly at home on Tuesday, February 19, 2013. He was born on November 12, 1947 to the late Clifton and Rosemary (Koss) Kuehl.

He graduated from Kewaunee High School in 1966. He then served in the U. S. Army in Germany for two years. He worked for the U. S. Army Corps of Engineers for many years until retiring, starting in Kewaunee,WI, transferred to Illinois, then to the State of Washington and back to Illinois where he retired. After retiring from the Corps, he joined the Operators Local 139 and was employed by various construction companies, currently with Ed Kraemer & Sons.

Rodney was a lifetime member of Ducks Unlimited, NRA, Local 139 Operators, American Legion Post 29, Kewaunee County Farm Bureau, Kewaunee Moonriders Snowmobile Club and the Kewaunee, WI and Peoria, IL Trap Clubs.

He enjoyed farming with his brothers and nephews in his 4640 tractor, hunting and trapshooting, riding his Harley, snowmobiling, socializing with family and friends, and of course farm auctions.

Survivors include his siblings: Darwin (Beth) Kuehl, David (Barb Schmoock) Kuehl, Barb Strnad, Kevin (Kathy) Kuehl, Brian (Lisa) Kuehl all of Kewaunee, Clifton G. (Jean) Kuehl of Dyckesville, nieces and nephews and faithful companion, his black lab, Elle. He was preceded in death by a brother, Glen, and great uncle, Louis D. Kuehl.

Friends may call after 4:00 p.m. Sunday, February 24 at Buchanan Funeral Home, Kewaunee. American Legion Services will be held at 6:30 p.m. and a parish wake service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation continues at the funeral home on Monday until 10:30 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Rosary Church, Kewaunee with Fr. Willliam Swichtenberg officiating followed by full military rites. Entombment will be in the Shrine of the Good Shepherd Mausoleum.
