Otto Junkermann Obituary

Junkermann, Otto Carl

Otto Carl Junkermann, 87, of Green Bay, Wisconsin passed away peacefully on July 27, 2016.

He was predeceased by his sons Terry and Kurt Junkermann; and by his parents Otto and Johanna Junkermann.

Otto was born in Milwaukee, but lived most of his life in Green Bay, Wisconsin. He attended Layton School of Art in Milwaukee and became a highly acclaimed Artist specializing in Industrial Design. He was well known in the advertising world for his artistic contributions to print, radio and TV campaigns. He designed numerous medals for Medalcraft.

Otto initially served as a Hospital Corpsman in the United States Navy. After a small break in service, he served in the Korean War as a Medical Corpsman assigned to the Machine Gun Platoon of the 1st Marine Division, Item Company, 3rd Battalion. Otto finished his military career as a Marine with the 7th Engineer Company, USMCR, Green Bay. He received an Honorable Discharge and has always been a proud supporter of all our service men and women. He designed the medal commemorating the USS Green Bay.

He was passionate about and actively involved in Wisconsin politics. Among his many achievements were Brown County Supervisor, 24th District (1982-1987) and State representative, 6th Assembly District (1987-1988). Otto was an excellent writer having written many editorials.

He had a great love for animals, especially cats and dogs. He was a tough opponent at Cribbage and Chess and he was a top notch photographer.

Otto is survived by four sons Perry (Nancy), Kelly (Rosemary), Brad, and Richard (Dunja) Junkermann; and his Daughter Karen (Christopher) Nolan; his grandchildren, James Henk, Chelsea, Chance and Lucas Junkermann, Johanna (Dustin) Lederer, Karissa Nolan, and Amanda Keck; and his great-grandchildren Cohen, Loral and Zayden.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the members of the Manor Care East Nursing Home, Southern Care Hospice and Karen Anderson, APS. Their dedication and effort to provide quality care and guidance over the last 12 months were a blessing.

Otto's final resting place will be at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, Wisconsin. A small service with Military Honors will be held at the gravesite with his family. A Celebration of Life will be held at Titletown Brewing Company. Both dates are still to be determined. Memorial contributions may be made to the Southern Care Hospice, c/o Otto Junkermann. The Proko-Wall Funeral Home & Crematory is handling final arrangements and coordination of military honors.
