Barbara Briggs Obituary
Menomonee Falls - Briggs, Barbara Ann (nee Gevers; formerly DeCleene) of Menomonee Falls (formerly DePere and LaFarge) lost her battle with heart disease on May 25, 2021. Barb was born in DePere, Wisconsin on March 21, 1943 to Bud and Dorothy Gevers. In 1965, she married Albert DeCleene and had three children: David, Susan and Steven. Barbara later married George Briggs in 1991, where she lovingly embraced the role of stepmom to Elaine, Bill and Clarice.
Barb never stopped learning and traveling. She graduated from college after her children entered grammar school. She went on to have a wonderful career working in the computer lab at the University of Wisconsin - Green Bay. She was the best bridge player at any table. Most of all, Barb enjoyed her role as mother and grandmother.
Barb is survived by her children David DeCleene, Susan (Derek) Main, and Steve (Laurie) DeCleene, stepdaughter Clarice (Jeff) Zellmer, and eight grandchildren: Darya, Dmitry, Ellie, Ava, Maggie, Spencer, Haley and Maddie. She is also survived by a million friends from a well-lived life. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bobby Gevers, husband George Briggs and stepchildren Elaine Ness and Bill Briggs.
Special thanks to her life-long friend Suzanne Stevens who she met at age 3. Suzanne was there every step of the way.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday June 5, 2021 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, W156 N8131 Pilgrim Rd. in Menomonee Falls at 11am. Luncheon to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Barb's name to Holy Cross Lutheran Church are appreciated.
