Edwards Michael "Mike" Noel Obituary
Edwards Michael Noel "Mike"

De Pere - Michael Noel Edwards, 55, De Pere, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 7, 2018, at St. Vincent's HSHS in Green Bay, WI after a long illness.

Mike was born June 20, 1963, to Noel and Marlene (Hill) Edwards in Boscobel, WI. He graduated from Boscobel High School in 1981 and Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts from UW-Green Bay in 2009. A degree in emergency management and disaster recovery would be one of his proudest accomplishments.

Mike was an avid Green Bay Packers fan and he loved watching the tall ships sail through the waters of Green Bay. His summers would be spent performing in events and attending renaissance fairs throughout the Midwest as the pirate Llewellyn. Mike was always ready and eager to roll some dice and have some fun. He and his friends would play Dungeons & Dragons for close to four decades through five different editions of the game. Gen Con, an annual pilgrimage to a convention of dreamers who lived a shared imagination was the highlight of his year and time well spent and enjoyed with his closest friends. He spent his free time painting miniatures, creating D&D games, writing stories, listening to the Musical Blades, and watching movies, Star Trek and Star Wars being some of his favorites. Mike was a huge fan of Shakespeare and enjoyed being on the stage. Books and anything to do with history were passions of his and can be seen on the well cared for shelves of no less than a dozen book cases. He always commented that books had souls and should be treated as such. He had a beautiful imagination and will be remembered for his laugh and sense of humor.

Mike is survived by wife of 16 years, Dr. Loriann Edwards; his mom and stepdad, Marlene and Bill Ziemer, of Gays Mills; one sister, Tammy (Chris) Olson, of Seneca; father-in-law, Don Kaster, of De Pere; brother-in-law, Jason (Michelle) Kaster, of Green Bay; sister-in-law, Theresa Kaster (fiancé, Ron), of LaCrosse; nieces and nephews: Benjamin Olson, of Gays Mills; Abigail Olson (fiancé Steve), of Edina, MN; Michael Kaster, of Stevens Point; Madeline Kaster, and Jake Kaster, of Green Bay; along with aunts, uncles, cousins, many beloved friends and his fur babies.

Mike was preceded in death by his father, Noel; mother-in-law, Diane; stepsister, Victoria Ziemer; grandparents, Orville and Blanche Hill, Rowe and Juanita Edwards; and other relatives.

A celebration of Mike's life will be held on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Blaney Funeral Home, 1521 Shawano Ave., Green Bay, from 1 to 4 p.m. with a Memorial Service to follow. It was Mike's wish that his ashes be dispersed at a later date. To send online condolences, please go to www.BlaneyFuneralHome.com.

In lieu of plants and flowers, a memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Mike.

His family would like to express sincerest appreciation to all of the doctors, nurses, and medical staff that have helped Mike over the years, especially the nursing staff from St. Vincent's ICU, they are truly angels.
