1919 - 2012 Obituary Condolences
Elsie E. Berdan, 92, Crandon, passed away Sunday, March 25, 2012, at the AGI Healthcare Center, Crandon. She was born in the town of Ackley, on June 30, 1919, to Joseph and Julia (Morgan) Preboski.

Elsie married Donald Berdan on Dec. 27, 1940, in Antigo; he preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 1966. She taught 2nd and 5th grades at various schools for 37 years. Elsie was very active in her community volunteering at the Senior Snoop Shop in Crandon, the Forest County Historical Society and was a 4-H leader for a number of years. She was a member of the Crandon Women's Group, retired Teachers Association and the Forest County Historical Society. Elsie also was a very active member of the Lakeland Baptist Church in Crandon, where she was involved in the Ladies of Joy for Missions and a Sunday School Teacher. She was an avid gardener.

Elsie is survived by daughter, Dawn (Wayne) Kraetsch, Merrill; sons, Dan Berdan, Crandon; David (Judy) Berdan, Mosinee; grandchildren, Ted, Susan (John), Amy (Mark), Butch (Shelly), Douglas (Jen) and Kate (Jay); eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law: Mary Preboski, Antigo; Cathy Preboski, Emmet, Idaho; Joyce Gatton, Greenfield, Wis.

Preceded in death by her parents, Julia and Joseph; husband, Donald; sisters, Marion (Richard) Brehmer, Nina (Frank) Wilsenski, Love (Leo) Drabek and Julia (Joseph) Whitehouse; and brothers, Paul, Roy and Bob Preboski.

Visitation will be on Saturday, March 31, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Lakeland Baptist Church, Crandon. Funeral Service will follow at 11 a.m. with Pastors Mark Ring and Seth Hamilton officiating. Interment will be in the Crandon Lakeside Cemetery. Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Crandon is assisting the family with the arrangements. Online condolences at
