James A. "Jim" Sparks Obituary
James "Jim" A. Sparks, age 72, Crandon, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at St. Mary?s Hospital, Rhinelander, after an accident at home. He was born October 12, 1939 the son of Victor and Ella (Brooks) Sparks. Jim was married to Patricia Ann Lindegren of Rhinelander, WI; together they had two children, Sherry and James L. Jim played basketball in high school. He was an Eagle Scout while in School. He worked at Omah bakery, Kohl's bakery and Seal Craft while living in Milwaukee. Jim and Patricia moved from Milwaukee to Crandon after purchasing Sportsman's Bar in 1976. In 1980, Jim and Patricia purchased a large business building in Crandon that had the Movie Theatre and other businesses in it. Jim built the bar known as Sparky's Bar. He was a hard working man and good provider to his family. Jim enjoyed playing Darts with his team player Muskie for years. He also played pool and down hill skiing. Jim loved to travel, a great Packer Fan and avid cribbage player. Jim was an active member of the Crandon City Council, Forest County Board and also the Wisconsin Tavern League. He enjoyed working with everyone. He sponsored many softball and basketball teams. Jim was considered the best bartender in the world by his customers.

He is survived by his child, Sherry Sparks Nickel, Laona and James L Sparks, Phoenix AZ; brothers, Larry Sparks, Florida; Mic Worthington, Kentucky; sisters, Sue Sparks Jameson, Crandon; Peggy Sparks Williams, Crandon; Nancy Worthington Leiner, Crandon; and Laural Worthington Goller, Florida. Jim also had a grandaugher named Kira J. Nickel. Further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A gathering of friends and family will be on Tuesday, December 27 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Weber-Hill Funeral Home, Crandon. Memorial Service will follow at 6 p.m. with Mr. David Jeffers leading services. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Crandon Lakeside Cemetery.
