Margaret "Peggy" Heisel

Oconto - Margaret Rose (Peggy) Heisel (Nee Neveu) age 88 passed away January 9, 2021 at her home in Oconto, Wis. She was born on October 14, 1932 in Coleman, WI. She was the ninth child of Laverna (Hower) Neveu and Frederick Neveu and grew up in a blended family of 17 full, half, and step-siblings. Peggy attended public school in Coleman, Wis. through the ninth grade when in 1947 she went to the convent of the Sisters of St. Francis of the Holy Cross in Bay Settlement and became Sister Mary Francine until she left the convent in 1973. She married James Kostichka in 1974 and adopted his children, James Jr., Jeffrey, and Patricia. After 26 years of a happy marriage, Deacon Jim died of cancer in 2000. At the 50th high school class reunion that summer she re-met Byron Heisel whom she had dated when in high school. They got married in 2001 and were planning their 20th wedding anniversary in August 2021. She earned master's degrees in education and theology and for over 40 years taught both parochial and public schools. As a musician she played piano and organ and taught choir. She married James Kostichka in 1974 and adopted his 3 children, Jim Jr., Jeffrey, and Patricia. After Deacon Jim Died in 2000, she married Byron Heisel in 2001, whom she dated while going to Coleman High School. Peggy loved all types of music. She liked outdoor activities including skiing, camping, RVing and travel. She enjoyed many summers at White Potato Lake, winters in Texas and wanted visit Rome, Italy and the Vatican. Peggy is survived by her husband, Byron Heisel of Oconto, step children David (Mona) Heisel, Teresa Schneider, half- brother Roger (Marge) Thibodeau, adopted children, Jeffrey (Julie) Kostichka, Patricia (Kostichka) Chaltry, five grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceeded in death by her parents, her first husband Deacon James Kostichka, her son, James Kostichka, Jr., her step father, Arthur Thibodeau, , her brothers Paul (Jeanette), Phil (Betty) and Harry (Lois), her sisters Ruth Weed, Marion Stravinsky, Florence Sager, Loretta Rebholz, Arleen Huebler, half -sister Janice Podoski. And step-brothers and sisters, Roy, Ethel, George and Earl Neveu, and Mark, Eugenie, and Greg Thibodeau. She is also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Peggy was a fun-loving, smart, and adventurous person with a quick wit and a kind heart. She was a dear, trusted friend to many and she will be missed by all who knew her. A Covid - safe funeral mass with viewing from 9:00 AM to 11 AM and the mass at 11: AM will be at St Anne Church, 211 Main St., Lena, Wis. No social gatherings are planned. In lieu of flowers donations to the Alzheimer's Association or American Cancer Society would be appreciated
