Raymond J. "Ray" Derricks

Town of Eaton - Raymond J. "Ray" Derricks, 93, Town of Eaton died unexpectedly Monday, May 14, 2018. He was born April 10, 1925, to the late Victor and Anna (Borreson) Derricks in the Town of Humboldt.

Ray proudly served his country in the United States Navy from January 27, 1945 to July 25, 1946. First on a troop transport ship in the Pacific as a cook, and later as a MP in the Philippines. On June 7, 1947, he married Lucille (Gezella) at SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church. Ray worked for Green Bay Packaging for 42 years, until his retirement in 1988. He was a member of the Polish Legion of American Veterans. Ray loved dancing, playing cards, gardening, woodworking, and was a local "handyman" that did repairs for his friends and neighbors who came to him for help. Ray also loved to make booyah, and his recipe was very popular and is used by many at events to this day.

Ray will be sadly missed by his three children and their spouses, Carol and Gene Bredael, Betty and Bob Duckett, all of Denmark; Mark and Molly Derricks, Appleton; seven grandchildren, Amy (Tom) Hotter, Tracy (Dan) Pearson, Leah (Patrick) Gray, Patrick (Erin) Duckett, James (Diana) Duckett, Melissa Derricks, Matthew Derricks (and special friend Michelle Elaine); twelve great-grandchildren, Anna, Joey, Daniel, Alison, Delaney, Kaylynn, Mel, Eve, Shane, Raymond, Benjamin, and Colbert; a sister, Marian Lischka; a brother-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Stanley and Norma Gezella, Rosie Gezella; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Harry (Anna) Derricks, Robert (Bernice) Derricks, Donald Derricks, Ralph (Floraine) Derricks; a sister, Lorraine (Ed) Groh; brothers-in-law, Clarence Liebeck, Harry Lischka and Alvin Gezella.

Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church, 5930 Humboldt Road, Sugarbush. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev. Carlo Villaluz officiating. Burial will be in SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Cemetery. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial has been established in Ray's name. Proko-Wall Funeral Home is assisting the family. To send on-line condolences, visit www.prokowall.com.
