Roger Allen Berg

Green Valley - Roger Allen Berg, 72, Green Valley, died Friday, August 10, 2018, at Bellin Hospital with his family at his side. The son of Carrie Jacobson Berg and the late Alvin Berg was born September 20, 1945, in Green Valley where he lived his entire life, with the exception of the time he spent in military service. He served in the U.S. Army from 1965-1967.

Roger met the love of his life, Pat Amenson, on a blind date set up by sisters. The couple was married August 26, 1972, made their home and raised their family in Green Valley. He had been employed as the fertilizer plant manager at Green Valley Farmers' Co-op for 27 years. Roger returned to school at the age of 53, and studied Computer Science at NWTC. He also worked at Target in logistics for eight years, until he retired due to his failing health.

He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in the town of Green Valley. Roger was a Green Bay Packers and Milwaukee Brewers fan, and watched baseball from his hospital bed up until he passed away. A hard-working, quiet and loyal man who had a soft heart for animals, Roger especially loved his wife and family, and his pets. He enjoyed gardening, bowling, golfing, camping, and fishing.

Survivors include his wife, Patricia "Pat" A. Berg, their children: Scott Berg, Tera (Ryan) Kolbeck, and Aaron Berg; grandchildren: Kristin Forbes and Alicia Berg, Aiden Kolbeck and Hannah Kolbeck; great-grandchildren: Isabella, Liam, and Wyatt, Brody and Braylin; his mother: Carrie Berg; two sisters and one brother: Betty (Jerry) Chlebowski, Rita (Jerry) Wesolowski, and Roy (Julie) Berg; Pat's siblings: Barb (Dale) Preslaski, Joe (Karen) Amenson, Linda (Dick) Lax, John Amenson, and Cindy (Curt) Frisque; nieces and nephews, and several beloved cats who stayed at his side.

He was preceded in death by his father, Alvin Berg; his father-in-law and mother-in-law: Theodore and Agnes (Boehm) Amenson; and a sister-in-law, Marcia Wertelusky.

Friends may call at Marnocha Funeral Home, Pulaski, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday. The visitation continues at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Bethel Lutheran Church, Co. BB, Green Valley. The Funeral Service will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Pastor Bill Gruenstern officiating, followed by military honors by the Pulaski area veterans. Burial will take place in St. Casimir Cemetery, Krakow.

It really did take a village to provide all of the physical, emotional, and spiritual support, which helped so much to keep Roger going. The family would like to extend special thanks to Davita Dialysis Clinic in Shawano, Transtar Medical Transport, particularly drivers Bryan and Bonnie, Bellin Hospital 4th Floor staff, Dr. Amy James and staff, Unity Hospice, VA Medical Center in Green Bay, Dr. Lynn Budzak, and Wendy, his social worker.
