I and Todd Schiffman managed Poco at the height of their popularity in the early 70's. Poco was innovative with Rusty's steel guitar, which created the foundation for Poco's new country rock sound, which later was followed by the Eagles. What we didn't know or realize at the time was that Rusty was the star songwriter. After key Poco members left Poco, including Randy Meisner, Jim Messina, Timothy Schmidt, and Richie Furay, Rusty became the star songwriter with Poco's only hit.
Rusty will be remembered as a talented musician, songwriter, and gentle human being.
Rest in peace.
