Charles W. Jenkins, 89, of Seymour passed away Saturday, May 31, 2014 at Good Shepherd Nursing Home in Seymour. He was born November 10, 1924 to the late William and Mary (Dunbar) Jenkins.

Charlie graduated from Seymour High School in 1942 and took over the family farm after the death of his parents in 1945.

On June 15, 1946, he married Marjorie Anne Prey of Wausau. She preceded him in death on April 2, 1999.

He was a life-long member of St. John Catholic Church, having been an usher and communion distributor.

Charlie operated the family farm until 1964 when he began working for the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture. He worked as an investigator for the animal health and meat inspection divisions. During that time he earned his associate degree in police science from Fox Valley Technical College.

Charlie was very active in the community throughout his life. He served his community in the various ways: vice-president of the WI FFA, vice-president of the Outagamie County Farm Bureau, 4-H dairy project leader, president of the Outagamie 4-H Leaders Federation, treasurer of Good Shepherd Nursing Home in the 1990's, and a member of the Seymour Lions Club.

Charlie was an avid vegetable gardener and often donated some of his crop to friends.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, David P. (Mary E. Pertzborn) Jenkins, Middleton, WI; daughter, Kathryn M. Jenkins, New York, NY; sister, Mary (John) Buhler, Milwaukee; and several nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friend Dolores M. Reinhard, Pulaski.

In addition to his wife and parents, Charlie was preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Runnoe.

Friends may call at Muehl-Boettcher Funeral Home, Seymour, on Tuesday, June 3, 2014 from 4 to 8 pm. Visitation will continue at St. John Catholic Church, Seymour, on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 from 9:30 am until the funeral mass at 11 am with Fr. Bob Kabat officiating.
