Wabeno - Richard Matthew Quinlan, age 88, of Wabeno, Wisconsin, died Monday, January 1, 2018. Richard was born in Soperton, Wisconsin, on August 6th, 1929 to the late John V. Quinlan and the late Marian Edith Woessner. He grew up in Wabeno in the house that is currently the Crystal Bell bed and breakfast, a home that provided him many wonderful memories throughout his life. At age fourteen, he entered St. Norbert High School in West De Pere, Wisconsin, where he graduated in 1947. He then spent two years at St. Norbert College before he transferred to Marquette University in 1949. In summer1950, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country for almost four years. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy he returned to St. Norbert College and earned his bachelor's degree after which he earned his master's degree in English at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In 1962, he married Melitta Reimann of West Bend, Wisconsin. He worked for the City of Green Bay Recreation Department, as an English and history teacher on Washington Island and at North Fond du Lac, and as a guidance counselor at Beaver Dam High School. Among his interests and activities were camping and traveling with his wife and children, genealogy, stamp collecting, fishing, the Green Bay Packers, and practical jokes. He was also a charter member of the self-proclaimed Super 3 Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, eight siblings, his wife, and his son, Michael John Quinlan. His survivors include his brother David (Rose) Quinlan of Kewaunee, WI, his children, Henry (Kristin) of Ashland, WI, Stella Nicolet of Vancouver, B.C., and Matthew (Jori) of Missoula, MT, and four grandchildren Maya, Robert, Abbigail, and Mari.

Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 13, 2018 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Wabeno. Memorial mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Father Philip Dinh-Van-Thiep officiating. Online condolences may be left the family at
