Murphy, Sr., Wallace Kenneth
October 25, 1939 - October 12, 2021
Wallace Kenneth Murphy, Sr., 81, of Madison, passed away on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 at Annie Penn Hospital.
A 2 p.m. funeral service will be held on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Ray Funeral Home with Pastor Leon Morrow officiating. Burial will follow at Flat Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday night, October 15 at Ray Funeral Home from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m.
A Rockingham County native, Wallace was born on October 25, 1939 to the late Herman and Rosie Goins Murphy. Wallace was a family man, often coaching for his children's sports teams. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. He also loved trucks and his dog Minnie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Marilyn Sharpe Murphy.
He is survived by his children, Rex Murphy (Patricia) of Wentworth, Kenneth "Duane" Murphy of Madison, Michael Murphy of Madison, Wallace Murphy, Jr. of Franklinville, Wendy Dunnavant (John) of Madison, and Jenelle Winfree of Florida; his brother, Tommy Murphy of SC; his grandchildren, Christopher Murphy, Patrick Murphy, Rexanna Murphy, Ariel Burke, and Justin Winfree; and four great-grandchildren.
