Sarah Helen Stone Smith
Greer
Helen, age 92, was born February 17, 1921 in the Gap Hill Community of Pickens County. She resided in Pickens until moving to Greer in 1995. Henry Clifton Smith, her husband of 54 years, predeceased her in 1993. The daughter of Ella Mae Mitchell Stone and William Noah Stone, she was the tenth of twelve children. One sister survives her, Florine Strange of Easley.
Helen is also survived by a daughter, Martha Jean Parker, of Greer. She adored her grandchildren; Cindy Parker Hale and husband Charles A Hale, Daniel Clifton Parker and wife, Christy Hergner Parker of Greenwood; great grandchildren, Sarah Anna Holder and Benjamin Daniel Holder of Greenville, Lauren Elizabeth Parker and Mary Kathryn Parker of Greenwood; great-great granddaughter, Ella Catherine Ryberg. She was lovingly known by all as Ma Ma. Pat Keasler, a dear and loyal friend to the end, is owed a special thank you.
Helen grew up on a farm and never lost her love for growing vegetables and flowers. She lived a simple, quiet life, loving and caring for her family. "She watched over the affairs of her household and did not eat the bread of idleness".

For over 50 years Helen was a member of Pickens First Baptist Church, a place she loved, served and called home. She's now a member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church in Taylors.
After a long battle with lung disease, much suffering and trouble that accompany this earthly pilgrimage, the battle ended September 16, 2013. "Death has been swallowed up in Victory. "
A graveside service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Hillcrest Memorial Park in Pickens, SC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Gentiva Hospice of Greenville, 15 Brendan Way, Suite 100, Greenville SC 29615.
Dillard Funeral Home is assisting the Smith family.
