Matthew Borkowski
Simpsonville
From June 15th, 1991 until February 21st 2013, Matthew Richard Borkowski filled this world with a gentle kindness that enriched everyone blessed to be bathed in his presence. His creative passion for art, music and drama enriched an energetic spirit, and joy sparkled in his eyes and love flowed from his heart.
Matt was born in Dania, Florida, until relocating to Simpsonville, S.C. in 1995. He excelled in all levels of scouting, eventually attaining the rank of Eagle Scout with The Boy Scouts of America. He attended Woodmont High School, where he nurtured a flair for the dramatic arts, being a member of the dramatic group The Woodmont Players. The sweetest soul one could encounter, he had a passionate love for family and friends, and warmed all in his laughter and love.
His spirit resides forever in the hearts of his mother and father, Kay and Larry Borkowski, and in the hearts of his beloved brothers and sisters: Ashlee, Grace, Luke, Noah and Peter, and in the loving heart of his girlfriend Adelia Manley. Matt loved to joke and dance and hug and love. His friends remember him most for his laughter, and that laughter will remain forever in our hearts. Rest in peace Matthew Richard Borkowski.
Services will be held at Christ Community Church, 700 Harrison Bridge Road, Simpsonville, SC, at 3 p.m. on Sunday February 24th.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Blue Ridge Council, Matt Borkowski FOS fund. Matt had a heart of generosity and this will help boys in many ways. Checks can be made to the Matt Borkowski Fund at any Bank of Travelers Rest.

I was so sorry to hear about Matt's passing. I had the privilege of teaching him in the 7th grade, and he was always such a sweet boy. He will always be that little boy in my mind although I can tell from the comments that he had grown up into a fine young man. My thoughts are with your family.

I was in attendance at the service for Matt this past Sunday. I must say I have never seen anything like it before. The number of people that came to say good bye was phenominal. I already knew Matt was an awesome young man, but seeing everyone at his service made it all so real. He touched so many people's lives.
Matt spread his wings like eagles do and flew high to the heavens above. He sits a top the tallest tree and looks down on us with love. We have all been touched in a special way for we have an angel above. Matt, you will be missed by many. You can be proud you made a lasting impression on many people. I'm glad I was one you allowed in your life, even if it were for only a short time.
Love, Kim (MaMa Mae) Brown

Kay, Larry, and Family,
At a time in the history of this once proud country, American needs all her Eagle Scouts to maintain her focus and values. Loosing Matthew is a loss to all who knew and loved him, and to the Nation he pledged "duty to God and Country." His loss is the Nation's loss as well, and all should grieve for his being taken so soon before the battle to save America was finished. My condolences are with all of you, but be proud and strong as he was a fine son and friend to his country for his values and dedication to the family and traditions he honored.
