Greenville
Mrs. Jean Hobbs Broome, 87, passed away Wednesday morning, April 23, 2013.
Born in Luthersville, Georgia, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Alton and Alma Albright Hobbs. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She was a graduate of West Georgia College. Jean lived her life in Chamblee, GA and Jacksonville, FL where she made friends easily. She was an avid card player and loved dancing to the sounds of Big Band music. While in Jacksonville, Jean was a lifetime member of the Hospital Auxiliary serving as a 25 year volunteer with Memorial Hospital. She was an active member of Faith United Methodist Church, participating in numerous ways including UMW and women's ministries. After her relocation 5 years ago to Greenville, she enjoyed being a member of Covenent UMC in Greer. Most importantly was her love for Jesus, her family and as in Proverbs 31, they now arise and call her "blessed".
She was preceded in death by her husband of 25 years, J. W. "Jimmy" Broome; her brother, J.A. Hobbs and sisters, Eleanor Stubbs Christian and Carolyn Massey. She is survived by her loving daughters and sons-in-law, Melanie and Pearson Flowers of Gastonia, NC, and Marsha and Dan Bunnell of Greer; her grandchildren, Wesley Flowers, Brian Bunnell and Carrie B. Tiller and husband, Ryan; great-grandchildren, Wyatt and Charlotte Tiller; goddaughter, Mary Lou Almand; and her nieces, nephews and their families.
Services for Mrs. Broome will be 11:00am, Thursday, April 25, at Covenant United Methodist Church in Greer with the Reverends Darren Hook and Brian Bunnell officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the Welcome Center at Covenant. Interment will be at 5:00pm at Luthersville United Methodist Church in Luthersville, GA.

Oh, Mimi! What dear memories I have of her, summers in Jacksonville, wonderful meals prepared, back scratching and so much more. She was such a dear Jesus loving woman, and I'm thankful that she's breathing and dancing freely with Jesus! Many prayers to Marsha and your family while you adjust to life without her. We love you!
