Howard "Lum" Brooks
Greenville
Howard "Lum" Brooks, 82, of Greenville, husband of Myrtle McAbee Brooks, died Monday, March 25, 2013.
Born in Winnsboro, SC, he was a son of the late Charlie and Clara Belle Roberts Brooks.
Mr. Brooks served in the US Army during the Korean War and was the former owner and operator of Brooks Discount Furniture.
Lum was always involved in church work as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent for 30 years, and Music and Choir Directors at Laurens Road and Tremont Church of God. He was on the SC Church of God State Layman's Board for six years. He was a member of Gideon's International.
Lum loved to camp and travel while his health permitted.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a brother, TS Brooks; and two sisters, Doris and Odessa.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 27, 2013 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will be held Thursday, March 28, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Tremont Church of God. Burial will follow in M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery.

So sorry for your loss, Mr. Brooks was always so sweet to me when I went to Tremont. I think of you all often. Prayers sent your way.

Myrtle, Have so many happy memories of long summer nights going to sleep on your couch to the loving laughter of you and Lum with my parents. Nothing could ever take that away.

was a very good friend to me ,i met him thru his brother at Brooks office Eqipment several years ago, we swapped stories about wheel chairs
