Lenore Riddle Putnam


Lenore Riddle Putnam, 94, of Greenville, widow of William M. Putnam, died Thursday, February 28, 2013.

Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late William Jasper and Mary Etta Stone Riddle.

Mrs. Putnam was a retired bookkeeper and a member of Pendleton Street Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Bailey-Harbin Sunday School Class. She was involved in the Snow Campaign Chapter of the DAR and the Greenville Chapter of the SC Genealogy Society.

Mrs. Putnam is survived by son, William M. Putnam, Jr. of Greenville; grandchildren, Benjamin Rush Putnam, John Morriss Putnam, and James Robert Putnam; great grandchildren, Alexander Rush Putnam and Sebastian Oakes Putnam; brother, C. Olin Riddle and wife, Virginia; sister-in-law, Catherine A. Riddle; and daughter-in-law, Patty Rush Putnam.

In addition to her husband of 71 years and parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, John Woodrow, James Ellis, and Charles Bryan Riddle.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 4, 2013 from 10:45 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown with the funeral service following at 12:00 p.m. in the Downtown Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
