Mrs. Lunnie Mae Parker Pickett, 93, of Hartwell, Ga., died Thursday, May 2, 2013 of a stroke suffered on April 10.

Mrs. Pickett was born Dec. 8, 1919 in Lawrenceville GA. She retired after 37 years as a teacher; her last position was at East North Street Elementary in Greenville, SC. She was a charter member of Francis Asbury Methodist Church in Greenville.

Mrs. Pickett retired to Hartwell GA where she was active in the First Baptist Church of Hartwell and taught Sunday School many years. She was also active in the Hartwell Garden Club and loved to grow flowers. She is noted for decorating the Bantam Chef in Hartwell with seasonal flowers.

Mrs. Pickett is survived by her children; Sidney Roy Pickett, Jr. of Greensboro, NC and Robert Allen Pickett of Hartwell, Ga.; Four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Also, a brother, John Edwin Parker of Roswell, Ga. She is predeceased by her husband, Sidney Roy Pickett, Sr., her parents, seven sisters and three brothers.

Funeral services will be held Monday, May 6 at the Strickland Funeral Home in Hartwell at 11:00. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Greenville, SC. Mrs. Pickett has requested that memorials be made to the general fund of First Baptist Church, 81 E. Howell Street, Hartwell GA 30643.
