Ruth McGee Stoddard


Ruth Pauline McGee Stoddard, 99, of Taylors, widow of James Dennis Stoddard, died Friday, February 22, 2013, at her residence.

Born March 14, 1913, in Madison County, GA, she was the daughter of the late Henry Edward McGee and Arvie Gilreath McGee.

Mrs. Stoddard was a member of the Senior Joy Club and the Alice Gibson Sunday School Class at Lee Road Baptist Church. She retired from Judson Mill, and was a former member of Dunean Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, James Edward "Butch" Stoddard, and wife, Adele, of Greenville; grandchildren, Jimmy Stoddard, and wife, Karen, of Taylors, Bobby Stoddard, and wife, Kim, of Taylors, and Kelly Johnson, and husband, Chris, of Greenville; great grandchildren, Trey, Scott, Brandon, Seth, Anslee, Michael, Nicholas, Grace Anne, Macy, Isabella, and Makenzie; and sister, Vinnie Lee Collins, of Taylors.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a great granddaughter, Hope Adele Johnson; sister, Janie Knight; and brothers, Hope McGee, W.M. McGee, and Tommy McGee.

Visitation will be held Monday, February 25, 2013, at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Downtown, from 12:30 p.m. until 1:15 p.m., with the funeral service following at 1:30 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be at Graceland West Cemetery. The family will be at her residence.
