Easley
Thomas Lee Ragan, 85, of Easley, husband of Betty Waldrop Ragan, died Thursday, August 4, 2016.
Born in Franklinton, NC, he was a son of the late John William and Bertha Cothran Ragan.
Tom served in the United States Army in the 82nd Airborne and was a member of Welcome Baptist Church. He enjoyed going on church mission trips and working with the youth. Tom was the owner and operator of T & R Sales, Inc.
Surviving, in addition to his loving wife of 62 years, are four children, Debbie Butler (James), Mike Ragan (Linda), Randy Ragan (Carlia), and Greg Ragan (Stuart); 13 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; and a sister, Shirley Thomas.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Dot Ragan.
The visitation will be held Sunday, August 7, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. The funeral service will be held Monday, August 8, 2016 at 1:30 p.m. at Welcome Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
Memorials may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
The family will be at the residence.

Dear Betty and the Ragan Family,
Sam Fattal just informed me that Tom died. I knew there was a bitter-sweetness to my birthday, August 4, this year and now I know why ... a true gentleman had passed. I can hear that beautiful southern accent as I type.

One of the most wonderful men I ever had the pleasure of knowing ! Heaven has gained a saint and we have lost one. Enjoyed one of the most wonderful mission trips of all because of Mr. Tom! All my love to family .
