Cornelia Harris Obituary

Cornelia Holmes Harris, 75, of 215 Hamby St., wife of James C. "Pete" Harris, died Friday, July 9, 2004, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.

Born in Cherokee Falls, S.C., she was a daughter of the late L.D. and Laura Wilson Holmes. She retired from Tires Inc. in Greenville, where she was bookkeeper, was an active member of Pelzer United Methodist Church, where she was the church financial secretary, was a member of the United Methodist Women, and was the director of the children's church.

Surviving are her husband, of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Terry Duncan, of Pelzer; a daughter, Cheryl Anders, of Powdersville; a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Thelma Holmes, of Inman; a sister and brother-in-law, Peggy and Gene Cusack, of Waldorf, Maryland; grandchildren, Jennifer Anders, Lee and Mandy Duncan; and great-grandsons, Justin and Jacob Duncan.

She was predeceased by a brother, Bill Holmes.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Pelzer United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Charles Summey and the Rev. Terry Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Greenville Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church, prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pelzer United Methodist Church, 8 Hale St., Pelzer, SC 29669; or to Gideons International, P.O. Box 141, Piedmont, SC 29673. -- Gray Mortuary, Pelzer.
