Obituary Condolences

Jacqueline Lou Heeter Xaver

Jacqueline Lou Heeter Xaver, 81, passed away on November 16, 2012. Her husband of 62 years, Gerald Xaver, held her hand while all their seven children gathered, prayed, and held vigil together. At her side were daughters Kathleen Therese McParland (Charles) of Tega Cay, SC, Ruth Anne Martin (James) of St. Louis MO, Nancy Joan Silvers (John) of Indian Harbour Beach, FL, Sharon Lou Guess of Chapin, SC, and Carol Marie Modlin (Tiny) of Niles, MI; sons Richard Frederick Xaver (Penelope Cole) of Mishawaka, IN, and Steven Joseph Xaver (Pamela) of Toledo, OH.

Jacqueline Lou Heeter was born July 2, 1931, in Plymouth, IN, to Ruth Steele and Frederick Heeter. On June 23, 1951, she married Gerald Edward Xaver. After beginning her professional career as the society editor at the Plymouth Pilot newspaper, Jackie went on to a career in real estate and mortgage finance. Jackie worked as a real estate closing agent at Portage Realty and as a loan officer at Waterfield Mortgage, as well as St. Joseph Bank of South Bend. Many young families in the South Bend area were able to achieve home ownership through the diligence and hard work of Jackie Xaver, who managed their mortgage applications through the often difficult paperwork process.

Her only brother, Frederick Steele Heeter, preceded her in death.

In 2001, Jackie and husband, Gerry, retired and moved to Greenville, SC, where they became members of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. There they could appreciate the full extent of love in the family they nurtured: granddaughters Meghan Weir, Erin Lewis, Katie Kaufman, Jessica Orr, Jessica Shatto, Rebecca Martin, and Elizabeth Decker, Stephanie Peterson, Savannah Rae Xaver and Vanessa Rae Xaver, Nichole Luckie, Amanda Guess, Sarah Guess, Hannah Guess, and Amie Rogers; her grandsons, Chris Martin, Ryan Peterson, Michael Rogers, Sean Rogers, and Kyle Wagner, and sixteen great grandchildren.

Private services will be held by the family.

Memorial contributions may be made to Interim Healthcare Hospice, 16 Hyland Rd. Greenville, SC 29615 or The , P.O. Box 5216 Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
