James Royster Tarry "Jas" Hewett

James Hewett Obituary

James Royster Tarry "Jas" Hewett, 23, of 106 Yorktown Court, Simpsonville, died Saturday, March 9, 2002, at the Medical University Hospital in Charleston.

Born in Burlington, N.C., he was a son of Darrell and Anna Tarry Hewett. Jas was a summa cum laude graduate of Hampden-Sydney College in Hampden-Sydney, Va., where he graduated with a BS degree in biology and pre-med. He was employed as an emergency room nursing technician at Hillcrest Hospital of Simpsonville, S.C. He was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity, Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Fraternity, and Phi Beta Kappa Academic Fraternity. He was a member of Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church.

Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother, Chad Hewett of the home; a maternal grandmother, Frances Nicholson Tarry of Oxford, N.C.; and a paternal grandfather, John B. Hewett of Simpsonville.

Dr. Steve Mays will conduct funeral services at 3 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2002, at Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church with burial in Cannon Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1 until 2:30 p.m. at the church.

The family respectfully request that flowers be omitted and memorials made to the American Heart Association South Carolina Affiliate, Inc. Up Country Region, 301 University Ridge Suite 5000, Greenville, SC 29601-3686 or Fountain Inn Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 337, Fountain Inn, SC 29444 or Medical Mission Inc., 4046-M Fernandina Road, Columbia, SC 29212.

The family will be at the residence, 106 Yorktown Court, Simpsonville. - Cannon Funerals and Cremations, Simpsonville
