Jorge Francisco Arango

Greensboro, NC

Jorge Francisco Arango, 22, passed away on Saturday, February 26, 2011 in Morrisville. He was involved in a motorcycle accident on Morrisville Parkway, in which a vehicle entering the road crossed into his lane of travel suddenly and without warning.

A visitation will be held for friends and family on Thursday, 1-3 pm at the Forbis & Dick Funeral Services at 5926 West Friendly Avenue, Greensboro. A memorial service will follow at 3. Jorge was born on October 11, 1988 in Cali, Colombia, the son of Carlos A. Arango and Elizabeth Giersberg. He graduated from Western Guilford High School and was working on a degree in music, business and criminology at NC State University. He became a US Citizen in June of 2010. He enjoyed mountain biking, anything that produced feelings of zero gravity, and riding his motorcycle. He also had a 100% adoption success rate as a dog foster parent.

Surviving him are his mother and father, and his brother Carlos E. Arango.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Wake County Animal Center, 820 Beacon Lake Drive, Raleigh, NC, 27610.

Dear Arango Family -
We recently adopted a dog from the shelter that Jorge was kind enough to foster when the dog was ill. We are still working through the naming process, but plan to honor Jorge in some way - his spirit will live on in many of the 4-footed spirits of Raleigh. Our thoughts are with you.

Dear Elizabeth;
I am so sorry to hear of your loss, as a mother, I can imagine the grief you and your family are going through at this time. It is always devastating to loose a love one suddenly, but even more so when it is someone so young as Jorge who had such a promising life. Your family is in my prayers.

You don't know me but your son seemed like such a caring beautiful person. I am truly sorry for how devastated you must feel now. I know it must be so hard but I believe that somewhere in this complex universe he is with God and is at peace waiting until he will see you again. How lucky you are to have had such a caring and compassionate son whose love for animals touched so many. I hope you will find some comfort in knowing that he is with God.

Dear Mr. and Mrs. Agango and Carlos Jr.,
I had the opportunity to meet Jorge when he came into the Wake County Animal Center to pick up a foster dog. He was a kind and thoughtful young man and the contribution he made to the center and the animals he fostered will be remembered by all. I am so sorry for your loss, my thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Carlos,
You helped me with my yard for the months before college (on Trosper Rd.).

Please know I send you and your parents all my best. My heart feels broken just knowing how you love, admire and care for your family.

Dear Family,
My heart and prayers go out to you during this time of sadness. Our family lives very close to where his accident happened and feel the sadness of loosing someone so suddenly. Please take comfort in knowing that out of tragedy will come good. Whether it be from the lives of the animals he saved, from the family and people that he touched, or even from somebody hearing about his accident and paying a little more attention while on the road, some good will come of this. I hope that you treasure the wonderful times that you shared, and use these beautiful memories in the hard days ahead. We will be keeping you in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Carlos, Elizabeth and Carlos Jr., We are so saddened to hear the news about Jorge. He was such a wonderful kid and we always enjoyed his visits when he came over to hang out with Matthew. He used to help Lyndsay with her Spanish teaching too. Please know we are saying prayers for all of you. We miss you not being in the neighborhood. Jorge will be forever in our hearts. Love to you all, Barry & Peggy, Lyndsay and Matthew Furr

Carlos, Elizabeth, and Carlos:
Words cannot say how much we wish we could help and how much our prayers are with you at this time. Jorge was a wonderful young man, so full of life. He was a friend of our son Will Stewart and I knew him from the WGHS band drumline.
I know there is nothing I can say that can take your grief away, but please know that we grieve with you and our prayers are lifted up to Jesus to ask him to wrap you in his ever loving arms to comfort you.

Dear Arango Family,
