Gray Court

Lawana Hughes Wham Goodson Lowe, of 526 Darby Circle, Gray Court, died March 25, 2013 after a long battle with illness. Born in Laurens County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. John Allen Hughes and Imogene Hurley. She worked in manufacturing quality control at several plants including Beauknit of Fountain Inn, Union Carbide Bldg 1 in Mauldin, Kufner Textiles in Simpsonville, and Hitachi Industries of Mauldin. Later in life, she completed her certification as an optometrist assistant at Greenville Tech and worked at Blackwell Eye Associates in Haywood Mall.

She is survived by her mother, Imogene Hurley of NHC-Clinton; her son, Shannon Dean Wham and his wife Dana of Simpsonville; her stepson, Travis Allen Lowe and his wife Daneille and their two children, Chloe and Stoney, of Pauline; and her beloved husband of nearly twenty years, Robert Allen Lowe of the home. She was a mother, a wife, a friend, but more than anything else, she was a Holiness woman, the last surviving member of Welcome Holiness Church in Gray Court.

Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cannon Memorial Park, officiated by Rev. Shannon Wham.
