Lois S. Grant

Greenville - Lois S. Grant, just six days shy of her 96th birthday took her last breath on Friday, August 3, 2018 at her home in Greenville, S.C. and entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus.

Born on August 9, 1922 in Tucapau, S.C. she was the daughter of the late John R. and Mary Eva Pittman Shackelford.

Mrs. Grant was a member of the Wesleyan church since her early teens attending the Piedmont, Pelzer, Woodside and Greenville First churches.

She was the widow of Robert V. Grant, who passed in 2000.

They were blessed with 10 children of whom 9 survive, Linda G. Verdin (Smitty), Janice E. Alexander (Jerry), of Simpsonville; Larry V. Grant (Kathleen) of Fairfax, VA; James D. Grant (Lynn) of Piedmont; Joseph B. Grant (Linda), Rebecca Porter, Teresa Odom (Duane) all of Greenville; Virginia L. Moran, of Greer; and Sharon M. Andrews (Buster) of Travelers Rest.

Mrs. Grant was blessed by God with 22 grandchildren; 39 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; also survived by a brother Melvin Shackelford of Pelzer and two sister in-laws, Frances Shackleford of Winston-Salem, NC and Jurldine Arnold of Byron, GA.

Mrs. Grant was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Patricia Tucker; two granddaughters, Catherine Grant and Angel Parcels in 2003; two sisters and four brothers, Ethel Duncan, Ruth Cummings, Richard, Bobby, Garvin and J.D. Shackleford.

The family members are at their respective homes and will receive friends at a visitation to be held on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Northwest. A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Northwest Chapel with the Reverend Jim Wiggins officiating. Entombment will be held at Greenville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
