Martha Ellen Willis Wham, 87, widow of Frank B. Wham Sr., died Tuesday, February 5, 2008, at Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center.
Mrs. Wham was born January 11, 1921 in Owings, S.C. to the late Wright W. Willis and Maude Yeargin Willis. She retired as the manager of the shoe department at Belks Department Store. She was a member of Beulah Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for 58 years. Her class was named the Martha Wham Sunday School Class in her honor. She was a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary for over 50 years.
Surviving are a son, Frank B. Wham Jr. and his wife, Teresa, of Gray Court; a daughter, Cathy Dickson and her husband, Larry, of Fountain Inn; and four grandsons, Shannon Wham and his wife Dana, Nick Wham, Zach Dickson and Blake Dickson. She was predeceased by a daughter, Judy Elaine Wham; two brothers, Gordon Yeargin and Henry Yeargin; and a sister, Mary Garrett.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at Beulah Baptist Church, officiated by Dr. Eddy Mattison and Rev. Wingard Berry, followed by burial in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 10 to 11:15 a.m. prior to the service.
