Robert Barry Rogers Sr. Obituary
Robert Barry Rogers, Sr.

Brevard - Robert Barry Rogers, Sr., 75, of Brevard, passed away on Tuesday, January 8, 2019. Barry was born on April 21, 1943 in Greenville, SC a son of the late John Isadore and Elizabeth Olive League Rogers. He is also preceded in death by one brother, John Earle Rogers and a stepdaughter, Carrie Louise White and numerous friends that he has now been reunited with in heaven.

He graduated from Greenville High School in 1961 and completed a Bachelors of Arts Degree at Wofford College in 1965. Barry worked for over 30 years as a Human Resources Director with Daniels Engineering in Greenville, SC as well as Jacobs Engineering in Houston, TX. He will be remembered by his colleagues as empathetic and a good judge of character.

He married Wanda Crowell White from Hendersonville, NC in 1986. With full hearts and determination they blended two families, bringing together five children who made their lives and love a beautiful, and sometimes challenging experience. Barry and Wanda retired to Angel Fire, NM where they enjoyed golf and embraced the local culture, history and natural beauty of the West. The couple relocated to Brevard in 2017 to be closer to family.

Barry is survived by his wife of 33 years, Wanda, of the home, his younger brother, David League Rogers and his wife, Lu of Greenville, SC, his two sons: Robert Barry Rogers and his wife, Anna of Mt. Pleasant, SC, and John Lawrence Rogers and his wife, Karen of Zachary, LA, and their mother, Barrie Hester Rogers of Brevard, NC. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Robert B. III "Bo", Daniel, Jack, Elizabeth and Caroline; two stepchildren: Angeline White Schwab and her husband Brandon of Waynesville and Jeffrey Crowell White and his wife Amanda of Marietta, GA., and two step-grandchildren, Avery and Harper Schwab. Barry's spirit lives on through his children, who credit their father's strength of character, moral values and high standards for influencing important decisions in their lives, and through his grandchildren, who reflect Barry's curiosity, gentleness and love for blue corn chips.

Barry blessed his family over the course of 75 years by imparting many valuable lessons; among them, "that life turns out best for those who make the best of how life turns out" and to "always close the refrigerator door". Always steadfast, his fierce commitment to family will be forever cherished.

The memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January, 14, 2019 at Cornerstone Presbyterian Church in Brevard with the Rev. Dr. H. Andrew Sillman officiating.
