Tom Holcombe, Jr. "Bud"


Tom Holcombe Jr. "Bud", 87, of Mauldin, died Monday, October 7, 2013.

Born in Greer he was the son of the late Thomas Jasper and Madeline Holcombe.

Mr. Holcombe was a Navy Veteran of World War II and retired from the Steel Heddle Manufacturing Company.

Bud was a talented steel guitarist who built steel guitars and had played on the stage of the Grand Ole Opry. He loved his music and the Navy.

He is survived by his sons, Thomas Mitchell Holcombe (Janice), and Jerry Don Holcombe; four grandchildren, Mitchell Holcombe (Vivi), Shannon H. Reed (Collin), Amanda Ledbetter (Blake), and Donovan Holcombe; and three great grandchildren, Jackson and Olivia Reed and Hudson Holcombe.

Tom was predeceased by his wife of 53 years, Evelyn Corene Howell Holcombe, and his daughter, Marilyn Patsy Holcombe.

The funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2013 at Thomas McAfee Funeral Home, Southeast, 1604 NE Main Street, Simpsonville, SC, with visitation prior to the service from 1:30 - 2:45 p.m.

Burial will follow at the First Baptist Church of Mauldin cemetery.
