Kirk Magill, 90, formerly of 443 Summit Drive, Greenville, died Thursday, June 5, 2014.

Nell Kirk Hunter Magill was born on October 18, 1923, in Mecklenburg County, NC, to the late Brice Mcilwaine Hunter and Nell Dorcas Kirk Hunter. Kirk graduated Newell High School and graduated Erskine College in 1944.

While at Erskine, she met and married James Marion Magill in 1942. They resided in Mt. Kisco, NY, and later moved to Baltimore, MD. Kirk taught elementary school and headed an educational pilot program for the government with a class of 40 fourth grade boys. In 1967, the Magills moved to New York City where Kirk taught second grade at the Horce Mann School and then was a 3rd grade teacher at the Nightingale Bamford School. She was the head of the lower school in her last years there. Upon retirement, the Magills moved back to Greenville, SC, where Kirk was an active member of the Greenville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church.

Kirk is survived by her daughter Jane Hunter Magill of Greenville and brother Brice M. Hunter, Jr. of Charlotte NC. Predeceased by husband Dr. James Marion Magill Sr., son James Marion Magill Jr. "Jim", brothers Claud C, John Howard, and Thomas Hunter.

A memorial service will be held at a later time at the Greenville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church. Memorials may be made to the Greenville ARP Church, 701 Cleveland Street, Greenville, SC 29602 or to Erskine College, POB 338, 2 Washington Street, Due West, SC 29639 or Meals on Wheels, 15 Oregon Street, Greenville, SC 29605.
