Donald Arvard Wardrope, 76, of Greenville, formerly of Augusta, GA, died July 15, 2014, after a long illness.

Born in Coalgate, OK, he was the son of Edmond and Robbie Wardrope.

Donald graduated from Fort Supply Oklahoma High School in 1956 and received a RN from Ponca City Hospital and a BS from St. Joseph's College in Standish, Maine. He retired from the Army Nurse Corp after 21 years of service. Among his awards, he received the Army Commendation Medal and the Meritorious Service Award. He was subsequently employed by the State of Georgia at Georgia Regional Hospital and Augusta Correctional Medical Trust, retiring a second time after 15 years.

Don is survived by his loving companion, Beryl J. Wickliffe; two sons, Dr. William J. and Michael J. (Melissa Lewellyn); grandchildren, Bodhi and Cielle Wardrope; and sister, Lydia Campbell. He was predeceased by his daughter, Susan Waldrope.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 19, from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at Mackey Mortuary, Century Drive, with a memorial service following at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
