Obituary Condolences

James Henry Edward Aiken, 94, of Greenville, died Friday, March 12, 2010.
Born in Pickens, he was the son of the late James Lawrence and Emma Elizabeth Byrd Aiken and widower of Laura Mollie Lou Dix Aiken, to whom he was married for 62 years. Prior to his retirement, he worked with Cone Mills Union Bleachery for over 45 years. He was a member of Arrington Memorial United Methodist Church.
Mr. Aiken will be remembered by several generations of young people in his community for the swimming trips, gum, and candy which he provided for them. In addition, he greatly enjoyed fishing.
Surviving are three sons and their wives, James L. and Loretta Brooks Aiken of Prosperity, Richard E. and Donna Shelton Aiken of Travelers Rest, and Michael T. and Faye Johnson Aiken of Greenville; five grandchildren, Jason Aiken, Chad Aiken, Jamie Aiken, Angela Drafts and Jeremy Aiken; six great-grandchildren, Chance Aiken, Chloe Aiken, Cierra White, Bryson Aiken, Lauren Drafts, and James Michael Aiken; and one sister, Mary Rogers of Easley.
Mr. Aiken was preceded in death by one great-grandson, Michael Lee Aiken.
Visitation will be held Sunday from 4:00 - 6:00 pm at Thomas McAfee, Downtown. The Funeral Service will be held Monday at 1:30 pm in the Downtown Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Home. Burial in Graceland West Cemetery.
