Leonard Crotts Obituary

Leonard Spence Crotts, 72, of 2340 Dixie Hwy., Madison, Ga., husband of Kim J. Crotts, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002, at Kindred Hospital, Atlanta, Ga.

Born in Portsmouth Va., he was the only son of the late Luther Owen and Gertrude Spence Crotts. He was raised in Clemmons, N.C., and was a graduate of Catawba College, Salisbury, N.C. He served in the U.S. Army.

He was a published author, an entrepreneur, a blacksmith, an artist and formerly taught school at Laurens High School. He was a member of the Church of the Advent in Madison, Ga., and was a former member of First Baptist Church of Laurens.

Surviving are his wife of the home; four sons, James C. Crotts of the home, T. Owen Crotts of Waterloo, L. David Crotts of Laurens, Neal A. Crotts of Sumter; two daughters, Elizabeth A. Crotts of the home and Suellen C. Holmes of Enoree; nine grandchildren, V. Laura Bishop, Kristi L. Meeks, Kelly M. Todd, Stephen D. Crotts, Hunter J. Holmes, Tyler E. Crotts, Olivia K. Crotts, Jacob N. Crotts, David L. Crotts; and two great-grandsons, J. Blake Meeks and Chandler J. Todd.

An adopted son, Edmond A. Bishop, predeceased him.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Advent, Academy Street, Madison, Ga. Family members will receive friends Tuesday evening, Aug. 27, 2002, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Rotunda of First Baptist Church, 300 West Main Street, Laurens.

Memorials may be made to the Art Department of Laurens District 55 High School, c/o Barbara Brinson, 5058 Highway 76 West, Laurens, SC, 29360.
