Edward Deckerd Burnett, 82, husband of Mildred Burnett for 64 years, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, January 27, 2013.

Mr. Burnett was born July 28, 1930 in Greenville to the late Frederick and Ruth Burnett. He was the owner of Ed Burnett Tax Service and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a Notary Public and a member of the Empire Masonic Lodge No. 213. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and a member of Standing Springs Baptist Church, where he attended the Daniel Sunday School Class.

Surviving, in addition to his wife, are two daughters and their husbands, Debbie and Tom Watson, and Tracy and Chris Estes; a brother, Fred Burnett; four grandchildren, Kelley Watson, Susan Watson-Bell and husband Mike, Nick Estes, and Daniel Estes; and a great-grandson, Connor Watson. He was predeceased by a brother, Jones Burnett; and three sisters, Eleanor James, Ethelyn Dempsey, and Elizabeth Bush.

Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Monday at Fletcher Funeral Service.

Funeral Services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Standing Springs Baptist Church. Burial, with Military Honors, will be in the church cemetery.
