MAUREEN CASTELLINI AHERN, 69, of Greenwich, CT, died Thursday, December 16, 2010 at Rosenthal Hospice Residence after a long courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Born October 31, 1941 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late John E. Castellini and Anne Castellini (McDonald). She is survived by her loving and supportive husband of 48 years, Patrick M. Ahern. Besides her husband, Mrs. Ahern is survived by her four children, Colleen Ahern Garcia and son-in-law Chris of Wilton, Michael Ahern and daughter-in-law Melissa of Naples, FL, Danny Ahern of Greenwich, and Tom Ahern and daughter-in-law Nichole of Wellesley, MA. Additionally, she is survived by seven grandchildren, and four nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her brother, Michael Castellini of MA. Visiting hours will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, December 18th at Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch Street, Greenwich, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Greenwich on Monday, December 20th at 10AM. A private burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her memory be made to: the Visiting Nurse and Hospice Care at the Richard L. Rosenthal Hospice Residence, Stamford, CT (vnhcsw.org); and/or the John E. Castellini Scholarship Fund, Aaron Copland School of Music at Queens College, attn. Dr. Smaldone.

I am writing to extend my deepest sympathies to you and your family. I was so very sad to hear about your Mom, she was such a wonderful Lady. I still have her hand written recipe for marinara sauce, and will cherish it forever.
