Lawrence Pugliese Obituary

Pugliese, Lawrence J.
Lawrence J. Pugliese, of Greenwich, passed away on Saturday September 12, 2015. He was 86. Born to James and Louise (DeBlase) Pugliese. Lawrence was a proud native of Chickahominy. An avid baseball player, Lawrence played minor league ball before serving his country honorably as a United States Marine during the Korean conflict. Later he worked as a contractor and was an active participant in his community. He served on the Board of Education for New Lebanon School, President of St. Roch's Home School Association, Vice President of UNICO, and was a member of the Representative Town Meeting, the Architectural Review Board, as well as the Board of Parks and Recreation. He was instrumental in changing Byram's postal code from East Port Chester to its current Greenwich address. Lawrence was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Greenwich Old Timers. He was also the founder of the "Do Sports Not Drugs" campaign to educate our youth on the dangers of drug use. Lawrence is survived by his beloved wife, Rose Marie (Petruccelli), his sons, Lawrence J. Jr., Gregory D. (Maria), and James (Angelica); and his daughter Marcie DeBardeleben (husband Charlie). He is also survived by his nine cherished grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Lawrence is the brother of Eleanor Valmis and the late William Pugliese, Charles Pugliese, Sarah Grandison, Rose Fallanca, Lorenza Santamauro and Gloria Farina. To honor Lawrence's life family and friends will gather Tuesday 4-8pm at COXE & GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME 134 Hamilton Ave Greenwich, 203-869-5968.
