Eric Nadeau Obituary
Eric Raymond Nadeau, 28, is described by his family and friends as one of the most intense, passionate and caring people in their lives. Canadian born, he was proud of his heritage. A state championship wrestler, rugby player, skier and snowboarder, he was a lifelong athlete. His love for sports continued into his career, where he worked for both the New York Islanders and most recently the New York Yankees after graduating from James Madison University. This year, Eric took on a new challenge to run the NYC Marathon, and was determined and dedicated to running this race for the first time. On Saturday, October 10th while running a half marathon as part of his training, he collapsed and passed away near the finish line. Eric's next challenge is to watch over his mother Lorraine Alice (Lussier) Nadeau and father Raymond Eric Nadeau, his grandfather Renaud Nadeau, his brother Justin Eric Nadeau and his sister Melanie Nadeau Backs, along with his brother-in-law Matthew Backs and his precious niece Mirabelle Lois Backs. Eric will also continue to inspire his many cousins, uncles, aunts and countless loyal friends who loved him dearly. To honor his life, friends may visit at Leo P. Gallagher & Son Funeral Home, 31 Arch St, Greenwich on Thursday from 4-8pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 16th at 10am at St. Catherine's of Siena Church followed by committal. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to the Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, the cause for which Eric was running in the NYC Marathon. Eric was my rep with the New York Yankees. I needed a lot of advice and help since I had just started getting season tickets, and Eric handled all my phone calls and emails with kindness, humor, grace, and infinite patience. He visited me at my seat during games, and always kept in touch. His passing was just so very tragic. I think of him often, and save the card he sent on my birthday. My deepest sympathy to his family. He is missed!

Eric was my Yankee Rep....he was just terrific about making sure things were always smooth... he was always a very nice young man and I enjoyed knowing him.....it broke my heart when I heard the news about his very untimely passing...and I have thought of him often, and miss him...very glad I got to know him

Dear Raymond & Lorraine, I just became aware of Eric's passing after speaking with Renaud. Although I never met Eric, Renaud always shared how proud he was of his grandson and his achievements in education and his careers with the Islanders and Yankees. I am so deeply sorry for your loss. Eric was my representative with the New York Yankees. He was a generous, caring, thoughtful, and hard working young man. I spoke with him many times over the last two years, and he came to sit with me at my seat in the stadium a few times. We also met at a several Yankee events. I was so shocked and sorry to hear of his passing. It was always a pleasure interacting with him, and I will miss him greatly as my rep, but more importantly as a lovely person.

I had the honor of knowing Eric through his work with the Yankees, he was the corporate rep for my company - The Rockefeller Group. He was an absolute delight to work with -- efficient, resourceful and response to his clients. He always greeted me and my colleagues at the game with a broad smile and "what else can we do for you" attitude. He set a high standard of client service and represented the Yankees superbly.

I didn't know Eric, but my son and I were standing nearby watching my husband run the race when he collapsed.
I watched and prayed and wept for him, and for his family (and particularly, his mom), as the first responders worked. We lost our youngest son earlier this year, and we know well the infinite and unbearable grief you are enduring now.
We are so deeply sorry for your loss, and will light the candle we keep for our own lost son in Eric's memory today.

Eric, Canada to us, was a leader by example. He had a quiet confidence and was a relentless competitor. A young man who could be relied upon to do the right thing and demonstrate responsibility in a natural way.
