Calvin Louis Schieler

CALVIN LOUIS SCHIELER, age 79, of Green Valley, AZ, formerly of Ripon, WI, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2012, at his home with his family by his side.

He was born on Sept. 2, 1932, in Athens, WI, the son of Reverend Egon Erasmus and Irma Bertha (Laehn) Schieler. Calvin graduated from Ripon High School, served our country in the United States Army and attended both Ripon College and Indiana University, receiving his master's degree in business. On August 27, 1955, he married Margaret E. Jess. Calvin worked for Kemper Insurance in the insurance claims department and in insurance sales at State Farm. He was a regional manager and an executive for Speed Queen, retiring as vice president of international sales. Calvin was a member of Ripon Kiwanis and Our Saviour's United Church of Christ while he lived in Ripon. When he moved to Arizona, after retirement, he became a member of the Green Valley Coin and Stamp Club, Green Valley Schaffskopf Card Club and Green Valley Community Church. Calvin loved to golf, collect stamps and regale you with his numerous adventures around the world and at home!

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Margaret Schieler of Green Valley, AZ; one daughter, Susan (Clifford) Boucher of Clarksville, MD; two sons, Steven (Kim) Schieler of Tomah, WI and Shane (Tammy) Schieler of Ripon, WI; grandchildren Calli and Drew Boucher, both of Clarksville, MD, Jessica (Mark) Gilmour of Winneconne, WI, Jason Schieler of Oshkosh, and Elizabeth and David Schieler of Tomah; great-grandchildren Taylor and Braydon Gilmour of Winneconne, WI; and two brothers, Reverend Robert (Charmaine) Schieler of Woodridge, IL and Peter (Kathy) Schieler of Ripon, WI. Calvin was preceded in death by his parents; infant son, David Schieler and brother, Harold Schieler.
