News Death Notice
MANTZ, William L. of Franklin, Ohio passed away October 30, 2013. During his illness he was being cared for by his loving children. He was born February 27, 1931 to Charles and Edith (Combs) Mantz. Bill retired as Chief of Security from Armco/AK Steel in 1992 after working in the Security Department since 1953. He owned and operated William L. Mantz Detective Agency from 1968 to 1979. Mr. Mantz served his country as a Corporal in the United States Army, stationed in Munson, Korea as part of the 84th Engineering Company. He was decorated with a Veteran Service W-IBC Campaign Star and a United Nations Service Medal. Mr. Mantz obtained a diploma from Texas A&M University. His professional certifications include Butler County Police Academy, National Association of Criminology, and Industrial Plant Security from Engineering Extension Service. Our Dad represented all veterans and POW's as Grand Marshall of the Memorial Day Parade in 2011. It was his great privilege to be a part of a ceremony in Washington DC honoring Korean War Veterans by Honor Flight of Dayton, Ohio. His memberships to many organizations include National Association of Chiefs of Police, Buckeye State Sheriff's Association, American Society for Industrial Security (past Chairman), American Legion, Life Member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He was a 50 Year Member of Knights of Phythias. Laughter followed our Dad. He was quick with a one-liner or a good joke. He will be sorely missed by many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Mary (May) Mantz, who he lovingly cared for during her battle with breast cancer. He is survived by his brother, Edwin Mantz of Monroe, Ohio. God saw you getting tired,
When a cure was not to be.
So He wrapped his arms around you, and whispered, “Come to me”.
You didn't deserve what you went through,
So He gave you rest. God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best
And when I saw you sleeping,
So peaceful and free from pain
I could not wish you back
To suffer that again.
