News Death Notice

JACKSON, Ray Carter 74, went to be with the Lord, 18 March 2013 in Marion, Indiana. Ray was born December 19, 1938 to George and Mary Jackson. He married his young bride, Martha Jean Irwin, in 1957, in Hamilton, Ohio. Ray worked in his family retail business (George's and Jackson Bros) for 20 years, prior to his career in the automotive industry at GM Fisher Body. Ray was well known in the Hamilton and Marion communities as an expert appliance repair man who provided his customers with friendly and honest service. He is remembered as a man who could fix anything without ever seeing a manual. Ray, an ordained minister and dedicated believer in God, faithfully served churches and the community through visitations, labor and lay preaching. Many called upon him for prayer. Rays hobbies included repair projects and commercial trading. He also loved to fish, work in his garden and the companionship of his dog, Maggie. Ray was a sweet and kind soul and is sorely missed by his wife, Martha; son, Dr. Steven Ray (Carol) Jackson (Columbus, Oh); daughters Mary Helen Jackson (Marion) and Faith Renee (Brian) Nearon (Indianapolis); grandchildren, John and Katelyn; and two brothers, six sisters, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at 1 PM at Needham - Storey - Wampner Funeral Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN with Reverend Philip Hurd officiating.
