NEAL, Frank C. A native Hoosier, died at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village in Monroe, Ohio, on Feb. 17, 2014. His wife of 66 years, Helen Elrod Neal, preceded him in death, as did his sister, Martha Huffman, of Flint, MI. Frank was born on Jan. 9, 1925, in Salem, IN, to Frank and Frances Neal. He is survived by his daughter, Melinda Neal, of Cincinnati; his son, Thomas Neal (Cynthia), and granddaughters Megan and Emma Neal of Westchester, IL; brother-in-law James Huffman of Flint, MI; sister-in-law Ann Bartle of Scottsburg, IN; and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Neal, a Purdue University graduate and U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, was an engineer with Cincinnati Gas & Electric Co. for 41 years. He was president of the Cincinnati Council of Churches in the 1960s, an elder at Evanston Christian and Anderson Hills Christian churches, Chairman of Disciples of Christ Area Assembly and a lifetime member of Cincinnati Valley Scottish Rite. In 1968, he was named manager of CG&E Northern Division in Middletown, Ohio. In his 21 years there, he chaired the Board of Trustees at First Presbyterian Church and served as President of the Butler County Alcoholism Council and the Butler County Personnel Association. He was a director emeritus of Middletown's First National Bank, and board member of the Middletown Chamber of Commerce, Middletown United Way, Middletown Symphony and public library. In 1989, Mr. and Mrs. Neal moved to Hilton Head, where he continued his commitment to volunteerism. He served as an elder and moderator of the Board of Deacons at First Presbyterian Church of Hilton Head and was board president of the Village West Property Owners Association. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 8, at 1:30 p.m. at Mount Pleasant Retirement Village in Monroe, Ohio.
