James Woodcock Obituary
WOODCOCK, James David 57, of Dayton Ohio, passed away peacefully on July 7. His sisters were by his side when he passed. He is pre-deceased by his father, Robert James Woodcock and mother, Arbutus "Patty" Woodcock. He is survived by his sisters Janet (Alan) Jackson of Independence KY, Jo Ann Woodcock of Cincinnati, OH, nieces Ann Jackson Diaz (Lester) of Lexington, KY, Laura Jackson Summerset (Doug) of Lexington, KY and Rachel Jackson Criss (Eric) of Independence KY, grand-nieces, a grand-nephew and many extended family members. Jim grew up in Bellbrook OH, was a member of Boy Scout Troop 75 where he attained the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Bellbrook High School in 1979, and from Hanover College with a bachelor's degree in History in 1983. At Hanover, he joined the Sigma Chi fraternity. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Wright State University. He worked as a programmer/developer for many companies throughout his career. Most recently he worked for CDS, serving samples at Costco and as a Quality Inspector for First Call Quality. He was a lifelong member of Westminster Presbyterian Church where he sang in the choir, served on committees, and participated fully in the life of the church. He sang with the Dayton Symphony Chorus and was an opera extra with the Dayton Opera. Jim was a gentle, kind soul and will be missed by many. A Service of Witness to the Resurrection will be held at 11:00 am on Friday July 13 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Dayton, Ohio. A reception will follow in the Fellowship Hall.
