Lewis REINHEIMER Obituary
REINHEIMER, Lewis Phillip 88, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 30, 2018. Lewis was born to Walter and Frances Reinheimer of Greenville, Ohio on July 9, 1929. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1947 and proudly served in the US Air Force during the Korean War from 1948 1952. He earned the Distinguished Citation Korean Service Medal and the Presidential Citation Medal for his exemplary service. After serving his country, he continued his education at University of Dayton. Lewis met the love of his life, Shirley, at the Maid Rite in Greenville and they married in 1953. Lewis was a manufacturing engineer at the Dayton Progress Corp for 38 years. Active in his retirement, he enjoyed working at Greive Hardware for another 22 years. Lewis was a golf enthusiast, a faithful fan of the UD Flyers, and the billiards champion of many Kettering Lathem Senior Center pool tournaments. Lewis continued to serve his compatriots as a recruiter for Honor Flight Dayton. He was a long time and active member of the Oakwood United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Shirley (Cottrell), and his sons-in-law Patrick Smith and Arthur Nabinger III. He is survived by his daughters, LuAnn Smith, Carin Nabinger, and Terri (James) Kerivan. He was blessed with four grandchildren: Colin (Katy) Smith, Cameron Smith, Spencer Kerivan, and Sophia Kerivan. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Patricia (Blair) Irvin. Lewis was kindness and warmth given form. He brought a positive spirit into every room he entered, and his smile left an indelible mark on our hearts. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Lewis's family wishes to express their deepest gratitude for the exceptional care he received from the Carlyle House and Heartland Hospice. In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in Lewis's memory to Honor Flight Dayton or the Oakwood United Methodist Church. The family will receive guests at the Tobias Funeral Home Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hill Ave on Monday, July 16th from 4:00pm 7:00pm.
