HURKES, Elizabeth Kay (nee Johnson) age 43, of Hamilton, Ohio went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday February 18, 2014. She passed away at Hospice of Hamilton after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on August 13, 1970 to Ronnie and Ruth Johnson. She attended McAuley High School. She is survived by her parents; two beautiful children whom she loved dearly and worshipped everyday, Lindsey Jordan Hurkes and Liam Ronald Hurkes; one sister Vicky (John) Cavins, two very special nephews, Brandon Nickell, and Kenneth Ryan Pennington; one very special niece Shannon (Douglas) Lehman; a very close friend Taylor Hughes and Baby Karter Pennington. She was preceded in death by her brother Kenneth Pennington. Kay brought a smile to everyone she met with her big blue eyes. She touched many lives and changed many hearts throughout her fight. She would like to extend her deepest thanks to all who prayed for her and her family. The family would like to thank all the caregivers who aided in her treatment, especially Dr. Philip Leming, Jill Hunt, and Christ Hospital Cancer Center. You gave us three extra years with our beloved Kay and we want you to know how truly grateful we are. Special thanks to all at Hospice of Hamilton; thanks to all the very special friends in Florida who had called Kay many times over to check on her condition, and to the Mike Wellers family. Kay enjoyed going to old car show cruise ins with her dad and his friends and all going out to eat. They were very special to her. Visitation at THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4, Fairfield on Sunday February 23, 2014 from 5:00 PM until the time of the funeral service at 7:00 PM, with Pastor Jake Jacobs, officiating.
