Janet,
Becky and I are truly saddened for your family's lost. When I first met Paul at Fairfield North's Cub Scout Pack 984 meeting and I saw him in uniform I thought, now here's a real role model. I mean not only for my son Kevin, the other boys in the Pack but for me.
He was a very special person as you well know. Your children are good people too and proves that you and Paul have done a great job raising them. They are strong and will be with you for future needs I'm sure.
I can't wait to have you back at work and greet you every morning before our shift begins. Call us anytime! Love you, Bruce

To the family and friends of Paul:
I wanted to extend my deepest condolences. When I read about Paul and how young he was, it touched my heart. May you all find comfort and strength through your prayers and through your love for and your support of each other. Also I hope that it brings you hope and encouragement (as it does me) to remember the promise of Jesus to reunite us with our dead loved ones here on earth under his kingdom rule when there will be no more debilitating sickness, no more tears of sorrow, no more war, crime, or violence, and no more painful death. May God bless you, dear ones.

I was truely shocked to hear of Paul's death. I had known Paul in high school and in Boy Scouts in Forest Park. My dad was our scout master for troop 610 and I was there when Paul got his Eagle. Though we didn't keep in touch over the years I still remember Paul as a really great guy even from way back then. My condolences go out to his family. His time here is done but his memory will live on through all the people that knew him and those he touched.

To McKendry Family and The FFTFD:
First, I would like to say that my husband Allen and I would like to extend our deepest sympathies and prayers to your family on the loss of Paul. I just found out at 9pm last night.
AC (Paul-Assistant Cheif McKendry)was a wonderful man, family friend, hero and all around great guy. My husband and I met him through my brother Captian Jim Coggin (FFTFD). AC, Janet and Missy have always came to all of our events. They are like family to us.I will always remember his warm smile, his patience, kindness and the way he took time to say hello when I'd visit my brother at the fire house.
Heaven received a hero last night and one of the best men I knew.
Find strength in your family, friends and faith in your time of sorrow for they will provide comfort.
Our prayers and thoughts are with the McKendry family and the FFTFD. As well as all those who were greatfully touched by Paul McKendry.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to help out and don't hesitate to call.
God Bless and May Paul McKendry Rest In Peace!

Assistant Chief McKendry has proven to be not only a leader of the community through his actions but also by the values instilled in his children and the integrity he maintained through his life. We should each express sorrow for the loss of a great leader, supervisor, and friend. To his family, be proud of your father, and husband. He is an example to which each of us should try and achieve. I will miss the laughter, and practical jokes, and his presence. AC we will all miss you.

My family went past Ivy Funeral Home last night and saw the fire trucks with the flag hanging between them. We knew then that something horrible had happened to one of FF Townships Firemen. Although you don't know us, please know that your entire community, family and friends are in our thoughts and prayers. May God bless your family as you struggle to make sense of this tragic loss. Mr. McKendry....rest in peace.
