News Death Notice
HERZOG, Walter "Wally" Herbert beloved father of Kristel Herzog and Nathalie Herzog. Son of the late Robert and Mary Clara Herzog. Sister of Mary Inez "Mi" Herzog of Boston, MA, and Brother of Thomas W. Herzog. Also survived by cousins, aunts, nieces, nephews and many friends. Passed February 2, 2010 at age 71. Graduate of Hamilton Catholic High School and the University of Dayton. Was a veteran of the National Guard, and a Peace Corps Volunteer and Trainer. Resident of the Democratic Republic of the Congo since 1976. Memorial Service will be held at the Gwen Mooney Funeral Home at the Spring Grove Cemetery (4389 Spring Grove Ave. 45223) in Cincinnati at 4 PM on Friday, February 5, 2010. In lieu of flowers, kindly send donations to Congolese wildlife conservation organizations www.bonoboincongo.com or www.zoosociety.org/conservation/bonobo.

RIP to Wally... I knew him when I was working for Morris Knudsen Construction company in 1977-1978 in Kinsasha building a hydro-electric plant and electric lines into the far reaches of Zaire.... I handled the weekly payroll for the Citizen workers and Wally handled the American workers.

Mary Inez "MI" and the Herzog Family,
Please accept my sincere condolences for the loss of your brother and father. I read the article in the Cincinnati Enquirer and he truly was a remarkable man, leaving his mark in many countries and peoples lives. I am sure he will be truly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Again, please accept my deepest sympathy.

Wally was a great guy he will be greatly missed by all who new him. Although I didn't see him a lot I always enjoyed the emails he and I shared. I will keep him and the family in my thought and prayer.
