WALKER, Charles W. age 86, of Leesburg, Florida, formerly of Somerville, Ohio, passed away Monday, September 3, 2012 at the V.A. Hospital in Lake City, Florida. He was born March 22, 1926 in Middletown, Ohio. Charles served in the U.S. Army during W.W. II in the European Theater. He was listed as M.I.A. and was a Prisoner of War, receiving the Purple Heart. He was employed as a crane leader at Armco Steel for 33 years, retiring in 1983. He was a very active member of the Beechwood First Church of God, where he was a former board member. Charles was also a member of the Junior Order of United American Mechanics in Lexington, North Carolina and Tiffin, Ohio serving as a chaplain. He was raised an orphan, and he loved spending time with his family. Preceding him in death were his parents, Robert Jackson and Theresa Marie (Engle) Walker; his wife, Georgia B. (Honchul) Walker in 2001; and two sisters, Mildred Combs and Theresa Summers. He is survived by one son, John Creech; three daughters, Peggy Green, husband Howard, Jane Weatherford, husband Phil, and Naomi Caudill, husband Tom; nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and one sister, Roberta Rhodus. Visitation will be Monday, September 10, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown. Services will be Tuesday, September 11, 2012 at 11:30 a.m. at the Beechwood First Church of God on State Route 122, Beechwood, Ohio, with Pastor Gary Agee officiating. Interment will be at Fairmound Cemetery, West Elkton, Ohio with military services by the Middletown Combined Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Beechwood First Church of God. Arrangements by Herr-Riggs Funeral Home, 210 S. Main St., Middletown.
