Lonnie SAUNDERS Obituary

SAUNDERS, Lonnie Ray 70, of West Milton, passed away Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2017. He was born in Fleming County, Kentucky on June 17, 1947 to the late Reeves & Mary Dorothy (Colville) Saunders. Lonnie was retired from General Motors after 30 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Englewood and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era and later the Air Force Reserves. Lonnie was a member of Solar Craft Lodge #730 F. & A.M. and the Scottish Rite Valley of Dayton. Preceded in death by his first wife, Linda; Survived by his wife of 21 years, Edna "Kitty" Saunders; daughter, Stacey Berry (Steve); sons, Lonnie Saunders & George Saunders (Yomara); 3 step children, Keith Ploski, Kevin Ploski & Andrea Matlock; 6 grandchildren; sisters, Phyllis Bolin, Debbie Highfield, Laura Hendricks & Barbara Workman; brother, David Meadows; numerous other relatives & many friends, especially his church family. Funeral service 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, 2017 at the GEORGE C. MARTIN FUNERAL HOME, "Northridge Chapel," 5040 Frederick Pike at Needmore Road. Pastor Doug Saunders, officiating. Interment Royal Oak Memorial Gardens, Brookville. The family will receive friends 9 a.m. Friday, prior to the service, at the George C. Martin Funeral Home. Lonnie has been my Best friend and Brother for over 55 years and we have had a lot of good times together and also some sad times but I will Always cherish his friendship and he will remain in my Heart until the day that I pass away and hope to see him again in the Great Beyond.

I grew up with Lonnie we went to school together was glad to see him at our 50th reunion.We will all miss him.I was personally acquainted with most of his family sisters aunts and uncles we have all worked together in tobacco and hay fields as a young man growing up.
